The commoditization of AI

With DeepSeek releasing an open source AI model, we could see a path when AI become commoditized.

As you probably heard, DeepSeek shook the AI world recently by releasing an open source model that is on par with the best OpenAI models, if not better, which they claim was trainer for under $6M — a fraction of the cost that the AI tech industry spent, and is going to spend on AI.

But DeepSeek also paved a road to a future where AI can become commoditized, thus loosing its value as technology. Much like it happened with The Internet back in 1990-2000s.
