It seems like innovation goes through this pattern, when suddenly a new shiny thing appears—which in turn is something old that was forgotten. Technology is no different. There is of course innovation happening, but many new things are just reused old things.

Take, for example, build automation and task execution tools. I bet you can name more than 4 just for JavaScript that were used in the past 5 years.
